Hospital incident spurs lockdown

St. John's Regional Medical Center in Oxnard was locked down briefly after a man with a gunshot wound caused a stir in the emergency room, police said Monday.

Tomas Gomez, 22, of Oxnard showed up at the hospital about 10:30 p.m. Sunday with a gunshot wound to his right forearm, Oxnard police spokesman David Keith said.

Hospital staff called for a lockdown after Gomez was reportedly "loud and very disruptive," said Keith, who did not elaborate.

No one was arrested in connection with the hospital incident.

Oxnard police said Monday that they had not yet determined how Gomez was shot.

Well I believe I would be a bit loud too if I had just been shot with a shotgun! Wonder what he did exactly to be so disruptive? Did they make him wait.... was he not treated right away and made to wait???? Hmmmmmmm

If I had to go to St. John's for an emergency I would be mad and loud too!

He was loud and disruptive because he did not want to cooperate, not because he was shot.

How do we know it was a shotgun Anna?

I've been to the emergency room at St. Johns in Oxnard several times during the last year. They treated me very well & professionally. I'm sure they had a good reason to lock down the ER.

what an idiot...I think the St. John's ER is more than capable of handling gunshot victims...let's not deny the fact that Oxnard has had many gunshot victims over the years. This guy was just being an uncooperative jerk...hmmm, I wonder how he was shot...I can only guess!

shaggy, Gee I have no clue. Could be they changed the article from when it first appeared on the front page. Or I could have thought it said that. Either way I wouldn't want to get shot by any gun.

Has there been any other news on this? I wonder what he did exactly?
