Three hospitalized after S.P. bar fight

Three men were hospitalized Sunday after violence erupted outside a Santa Paula bar, police said.

Santa Paula police received a report about 9:30 p.m. of people fighting and breaking beer bottles outside the Sanchez Bar on the 100 block of west Harvard Boulevard, said Lt. Mike Saviers of the Santa Paula Police Department. One man was reportedly breaking bottles over people's heads.

Three injured men — ages 25, 26 and 31 — were transported to the emergency room at Santa Paula Hospital, Saviers said.

No one was arrested in connection with the incident.

Further information was not available on Monday afternoon, Saviers said.

I'm guessing that the "bar fight" occured around 6:30PM since this might otherwise assume that barfighters can also time travel....

tomfoolery aside....our County has a reputation for safety...despite what the Sheriff and DA might say around election or budget time...

There is a serious issue though, as regards all of our County hospitals with regards to Security.

This article was predated by one where St. John's Oxnard hospital's ER was "shutdown" by the actions of some sort of an at least unruly patient/client.

To be sure, Ventura County does not yet have any of the "war zone" hospitals that may exist in other densely populated urban areas...yet.

I think that in the main, unarmed security staff are the norm. They serve their purposes...checking doorknobs and such, raising and lowering the flag. To be fair to them, they are not trained/equipped to do much more and it would surely be unfair to expect much more of them.

But...uniformed and trained (as to Law Enforcement standards)...you know..Cops and Sheriff's/Deadly Force wielding sort of guys/gals) are not the norm...and they haven't been thought of as needed...at least so far.

..at least until the first "incident" occurs.

I've seen "take-downs" in our ER...and I have to give a lot of kudos/thanks to the Ventura PD and VC Sheriffs for their support of the ER where I work....(and the other officers I've not seen doing what it takes I might add!).

...but should we consider higher levels of security at all Ventura County medical facilities....before an "incident" occurs that makes us all wish we had acted sooner...rather than too late......???
