Caring teachers
Our two sons went through the Moorpark schools from kindergarten through 12th grade. Our youngest son graduated from Moorpark High School this year. We are proud of his academics and achievements, as we are of our oldest son, who graduated in 2003 from Moorpark High.
Moorpark schools gave them a wonderful education. We had very few problems in all those years, and we always had teachers and administrators who would listen. Almost all the teachers they had were great. Many of them went above and beyond the call of duty.
We thank Peach Hill School, Flory School, Mesa Verde School and Moorpark High School. There were so many teachers they had who were wonderful, so we will not print all their names. Some of the teachers are still there; some have gone. We hope if they read this, they know they make a difference in children's lives in a big way. We thank them for teaching our sons so much and for caring.

EScrip helps school
Words cannot express the appreciation that Brookside Elementary School and PTA have for the contributions that Vons, Pavilions and Safeway have made to our school through their eScrip fundraising program.
Our PTA fundraising efforts, of which eScrip is a very important component, helped to provide much-needed financial support to our school for things such as computers, physical education teachers, new playground equipment, classroom supplies, all-school assemblies, yard duty supervision and much more.
Our parents love eScrip and absolutely shop at Vons because of their commitment to our schools and children. So, on behalf of all the students, parents, teachers and administrators at Brookside Elementary, a thank you to Vons, Pavilions and Safeway for their kindness and generosity.

'Hair' a real up-do
A group of us recently went to see "Hair" at the Simi Valley Performing Arts Center. What a revelation! It was the best and most professional production of a musical we have ever seen in the Ventura County area.
I don't know where The Star's reviewer was, but she missed the event of the year so far. The choreography, the singers and the highly charged youthful exuberance made the show a "must" see.
Kudos to all involved for a very memorable Sunday afternoon.

Village Voices treat
Wow! What a concert!
We have not missed a Village Voices concert — two a year — since moving to California 24 years ago. Kudos to this wonderful choral ensemble for presenting an entertaining, musical evening to another soldout house. The concert was titled "Favorites" and was truly our favorite.
Musical Director Gloria Hilliard, talented accompanist Christine DeKlotz, all the excellent instrumentalists, soloists and 70-voice chorale were superb.
Since 1969, the Village Voices Chorale has provided wonderful choral experiences for our community. The Village Voices also help support and fund school music programs and annually give vocal scholarships to college students majoring in voice. Two scholarship recipients, Keith Colclough and Raina Witt, and the Wildwood Elementary School Chorus and Arroyo West Elementary School performed in the "Favorites" concert June 1.
My family is already looking forward to the Village Voices Chorale concert, "Sing in the Holidays," Dec. 7 and 8.
