Group meets to save animals in shelter

Thanks to The Star printing my letter, "Saving cats and dogs," the first meeting of "VC Citizens Helping Animals" met Feb. 4 with an excellent attendance.

My mission is to bring together citizens who not only are upset about the numbers of cats and dogs coming into the Ventura County animal shelter and the numbers of cats and dogs who do not get adopted and end up being destroyed, but are willing to put out the effort to develop creative ideas and implementation requirements focused on reducing the numbers destroyed for lack of good homes.

"VC Citizens Helping Animals" needs to continue to grow in numbers to effectively represent all the caring, creative-thinking citizens of this county. I am inviting like-minded residents to join us at our next meeting Feb. 22, 7 to 9 p.m. First-time attendees can e-mail me at joan.farber@sbcglobal.net for meeting location and to RSVP.
