T-shirts for New Orleans

U2 guitarist The Edge is known for wearing tight-fitting knit hats. Now, he's making a charitable fashion statement with the black Music Rising T-shirt he wore at the 2006 Grammy Awards and other performances.

Limited-edition charity versions of the shirts, featuring the white winged Music Rising logo on the front and a Hard Rock Cafe logo on the back collar, are on sale at Hard Rock locations and online at http://www.hardrock.com. Proceeds will benefit Music Rising, the campaign founded by The Edge in 2005 to replace lost instruments and equipment for musicians affected by hurricanes in the Gulf Coast region.

More than 2,300 artists in the area who depend on the local music industry for their livelihood have been supported by Music Rising.

The second part of the campaign, Music Rising Phase II, is helping churches and schools in the Gulf Coast area.

"The preservation and advancement of great music is not only a priority for Hard Rock but a necessity for the revitalization of New Orleans," said Hamish Dodds, president and chief executive officer of Hard Rock International.

The shirts cost $24. For more information, visit http://www.musicrising.org.
