12/14/2007 Friday, December 14, 2007 VENTURA, CA - On January 5 th 2008, the Ventura Family YMCA will be celebrating its 121 st birthday by holding an Open House for the public from 10am - 1pm. To thank the community for its support the YMCA is has decided to offer NO Join fee (savings of $150), on the 5 th, for new members that are interesting in joining. If members can not make it on that day they will still be offered a 50% off their join fee for the remainder of the month.

To celebrate the YMCA's more than 100 year history in Ventura; the Open House will showcase the Y decked out in its Birthday garb; from the balloons, streamers; party hats, noise makers and the huge birthday cake, there will be no mistake that the Y is ready to party!

The Open House atmosphere and activities will be centered on a carnival theme and include jolly jump slides, clowns, face painting, kid's crafts, and balloon animals, as well as, basketball, wallyball, water balloon, and soccer contests. Oh and who could forget the infamous gummy worm grab! Adults will be able to enjoy a group fitness tester schedule showcasing our most highly desirable classes out of the more than 80 group fitness classes that are offered weekly. FREE childcare will be provided during the Open House for parents that would like to try the Y "kid free". The day will be jam packed with a variety of fun games and activities for the entire family as well as encourage people to come and enjoy the Y's facilities for FREE.

Radio personality, Skitz, from Live 105.5 will be the MC for the day and feature a variety of contests and prizes. Two grand prizes will be award from the music trivia and basketball challenge contests where each winner will receive a one year family membership ($1,200 value) to the Y! Winners must be present at the Y to receive their prize.
