California Cup raises funds for Olympians
The California Cup will have a fundraising dinner for Olympians on Jan. 4 at the Moose Lodge in Ventura at 5 p.m.
There will be a youth softball tournament for girls 10 and under, 12 and under, 14 and under, 16 and under and 18 and under on Jan. 5-6 at Camino Real Park in Ventura. Each division will be limited to the first eight to 10 teams.
Cost is $425. The tournament is an AFA qualifier and hosted by Crystl Bustos and SoCal 3D.
The dinner will include Olympians Laura Berg, Bustos, Lisa Fernandez, Amanda Freed, Vicky Galindo, Andrea Duran, Leah O'Brien-Amico, Lorrie Harrigan, Lauren Lappin, Lovieanne Jung, Kelly Kretschman, Jenny Topping and Natasha Watley. Tickets must be purchased in advance. Gold tickets are $100, including seating with an Olympian or red tickets are $50. HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER
Newbury Park High to host alumni games
Newbury Park High will host the annual alumni boys' and girls' soccer games on Saturday at the campus stadium. Gates will open at 11:30 a.m. Games will start at noon.

BASEBALL
Union, Oxnard College to host casino night
Local Labor Union 585 will present the Oxnard College baseball casino night on Jan. 20, from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 600 S. D St., Oxnard.
Cost is $40 per person, including dinner and script money.
There will be a sports memorabilia auction. Sponsor tables will be available for $300.
Roger Frash is seeking donations and door prizes.

BASKETBALL
Ventura College to host fundraiser barbecue
The Ventura college women will host the ninth annual fundraiser barbecue dinner and game on Jan. 5. The Pirates will play Foothill College at 7 p.m.
Dinner will be served from 4 to 6:30 p.m. The menu includes tri-tip and or chicken, chili, salad, bread and beverage.
Cost for adult ticket is $12 in advance and $8 for children 12 and under. Tickets at the door are $15 and $10. Proceeds will be benefit Ventura College women's basketball, Breakers youth and the Ventura County Pirates club teams.
