Garden Grove Elementary School
- School will resume Jan. 7.
- Sixth-Grade Outdoor School will be Jan. 711.
- Accelerated Reader Classroom Competition continues through January.
Big Springs Elementary School
- The PTA-sponsored Box Tops for Education drive netted more than 8,000 box tops, which equates to more than $800 to be used for school supplies.
Theresa D'Augustino's third-grade class came in first place, and Eileen Gordon's second-grade class came in second place.
Abraham Lincoln Elementary School
- The school will compete in the 10-school annual Elementary Quiz Bowl Competition to be held in March. Preparation is under way.
- More than 100 awards for outstanding student achievements were presented in December at the awards assembly.
The PTA purchased and hung the Lincoln California Distinguished School plaque on the office wall.
- STAR testing will begin in the spring.
THOUSAND OAKS
Hillcrest Christian School
- School will resume Jan. 7.
- Spirit week will be Jan. 7-11. Throughout the week, there will be special dress days and class spirit contests.
- Jan. 11 is homecoming boys' varsity basketball game.
The game starts at 4:30 p.m. at First Christian Church against First Lutheran.
After the game, there will be a night of family fellowship at Islands Restaurant in Newbury Park.
