Got some spare cards? Don't let them go to waste. How about spreading a little more Christmas cheer?

Make a list of those people you run across regularly — the grocery store clerk, the bank teller, the receptionist at your doctor's office, the waitress or barista who serves you coffee. Can't forget your newspaper carrier, either.

Then, write a brief note.

You'll be surprised how treasured such a small gesture can be.

Oh, by the way, thank you for brightening our days with witty, insightful and passionate letters.

Have a very merry Christmas.
