Ducks take another bite out of Sharks
SAN JOSE — The sixth in a row might as well have counted for two for the Ducks.
The big question entering Saturday night was whether the Ducks could extend their five-game winning streak on San Jose's home ice in the finale of a three-game mini-series between the teams.
Not only did the Ducks come out with a 5-2 victory, they defused a San Jose team that was coming off perhaps its worst loss this season by withstanding a third-period rally in front of a boisterous crowd of 17,496 at HP Pavilion.
It was the second victory against San Jose in five days and a sign the Ducks are taking a page from last season in learning how to sacrifice for victory.
"The one thing we've been able to demonstrate in the last part of this span is how hard we have to work to have success," Coach Randy Carlyle said.
The Ducks moved into a second-place tie with San Jose in the Pacific Division.
