Golden Valley High School student chosen for award
Golden Valley High School senior Quincy Freeman is the recipient of Lockheed Federal Credit Union's Student of the Month award for December.
He has been selected because of his overall performance, including academic accomplishments, extra curricular activities and leadership abilities."Quincy (Freeman) shows great dedication in his studies and is always willing to assist others by teaching them what he has learned," said Principal Jacque Snyder who nominated Freeman for the award. "His can-do attitude and focus motivates others to do their best. Quincy is well ahead of the pace for graduation, as he has already interviewed with Azusa Pacific University."An all-around athlete, Freeman is involved in basketball, track and football. As a member of the Christian Club, he has secured speakers and has shared encouraging and challenging messages.
His participation has helped increase their membership and focus on values and opportunities for learning about the struggles of others and how it supports personal growth, Snyder said."We are proud to honor Quincy Freeman with our Student of the Month award," said James Davis, director of sales, Division II, for LFCU. "Each month, we receive student nominees for our program from the William S. Hart District. These students are achievers in multiple categories and have outstanding potential. It is a privilege to recognize their efforts and we wish them great success." Freeman has demonstrated his leadership qualities on the courts and fields. Snyder noted he is quick to compliment others and assist them when he sees a need both in the classroom and in extra curricular activities. "Quincy has a ready smile for all he meets," Snyder adds. "He is sincerely interested in others and makes you feel good just meeting and talking with him. He demonstrates his school spirit and school pride daily. He is able to effectively juggle his extra curricular and curricular responsibilities and stay focused on his goals for college and career. He is a wonderful representative of the Golden Valley student community."Freeman was also selected as Mr. GV (Golden Valley).The Student of the Month program recognizes one high school students from the William S. Hart district who demonstrates strong academic achievement, leadership traits and participates in extra curricular or community related activities.
Selected students receive a cash award of $250 and recognition in district publications. LFCU partnered with the William S. Hart district to launch the Student of the Month program in 2005.During the academic year, the Student of the Month program recognizes one high school student each month. School administrators or faculty nominate students based on overall performance, including academic accomplishments, extra curricular activities, leadership, and other notable experiences. The winning high school student receives a cash award of $250.
