Nearly 35 young residents of Many Mansions will get ice-skating lessons this week from performers with Disney on Ice's Princess Wishes program, an official from the nonprofit group said.
The skating clinic will be Tuesday at The Lakes shopping center's ice-skating rink in Thousand Oaks, said Vanessa Berlinsky, associate director of marketing for Many Mansions.
The children will meet a Disney princess, and six performers from the show will be on hand to teach them to skate.
The children, many of whom have never ice-skated before, will be taught how to do skating tricks, spins and turns by the professional Disney skaters, and will each get the opportunity to have a photo taken with the guest princess.
Many Mansions provides affordable housing to low-income families in Ventura County.
The organization serves more than 1,00 adults and children with on-site services and programs such as job training, case management and homework literacy.
The Disney on Ice's Princess Wishes program will begin a three-week engagement throughout the Southland on Wednesday at Staples Center in Los Angeles.
