Boys & Girls Clubs of Oxnard, Port Hueneme to raffle off waterview home in Channel Islands Harbor
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme (BGCOP) is offering a $1 million opportunity: a brand new Channel Islands Harbor home — or $1 million cash — for a $150 raffle ticket. Tickets for the House of Ten Thousand Dreams Home Raffle are on sale now. Proceeds will help BGCOP expand with a goal of serving 10,000 kids. The clubs currently provide programming for 7,000 kids at 24 locations in the Oxnard and Port Hueneme communities. For tickets, visit www.tenthousanddreams.net and download an entry form, or call toll-free to (866) 720-2582. There will be three early bird drawings with the final and grand prize drawing set for March 31, 2008. Enter by Wednesday for the first early bird drawing on Dec. 21.
The House of Ten Thousand Dreams is a two-story, approximately 2,800-square-foot, single-family home to be constructed in 2008 in the gated island Port Meridian region of the Seabridge community and includes a 45-foot boat dock and idyllic water views.
The $1 million home includes four bedrooms, a master retreat, a loft, three bathrooms, an optional fifth bedroom and a two-car garage. Seabridge, a marina village located in the Channel Islands Harbor, embodies the Southern California lifestyle for boating enthusiasts and homebuyers with a spirit for adventure. Built around six distinct neighborhoods, the community includes single-family homes, single-level flats, town homes and live/work designs.
A planned recreation center will include a harbor-view pool, spa and sundecks, barbecue center, game room, event and media rooms and more. Three bridges link the island and the village so island residents can walk to village shops and restaurants.
A total of 18,000 tickets will be sold and there will be 200 prizes raffled off. The second prize is a 2007 Harley-Davidson Fat Boy motorcycle. For deadlines, visit www.tenthousanddreams.net. The raffle ends March 31, 2008. Early-bird winners will still be eligible to win the House of Ten Thousand Dreams.
"These are great odds," said Tim Blaylock, chief professional officer of Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme. "Not only does this beat out the lottery, but every ticket purchased helps create a positive place for kids and a better community."
By involving parents, volunteers, educators and the business community, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme help youth reach their full potential through a positive environment, lifelong learning and programs dedicated to the arts, education, character and leadership development, health and recreation.
Programs are based on physical, emotional, cultural and social needs, and are designed to expand participants' areas of interest.
