YOUTH FOOTBALL
805 All-Stars to play Snoop Dogg team
The 805 All-Stars will travel to Los Angeles today to play Snoop Dogg's Senior Division football team.
Game time will be 2 p.m. at West Adams Prep School, 1500 W. Washington Blvd., Los Angeles.
Lou Toilolo of the Oxnard 49ers has organized a strong contingent of players from the Gold Coast, Pacific Youth and Coastal Valley youth football leagues.
"The talent is awesome," said Toilolo.
HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL
All-star game attracts local players
The Major League Baseball Urban Youth Academy in Compton will host the Jesse Flores Memorial High School All-Star Game today at 1 p.m.
The players are Chad Smith, Thousand Oaks High; Matt McGill, Royal; Tanner Peters, Royal; Jett Bandy, Thousand Oaks; Shane Kroker, Westlake; Cutter Dykstra, Westlake; and K.C. Serna, St. Bonaventure.
Serna will miss today's game because he's the quarterback of St. Bonaventure High football team playing in a CIF State Division III championship bowl at Carson at 11:30 a.m.
Flores was the first Mexican-born player to pitch in the major leagues and enjoyed a 15-year career with the Chicago Cubs, Oakland Athletics and Cleveland Indians. Flores went on to scout with the Philadelphia Phillies and Minnesota Twins. Flores signed Bert Blyleven, Lymon Bostock, Rick Dempsey, Reggie Smith, Craig Nettles, Jesse Orosco and Paul Abbott.
Today's batting practice starts at 10 a.m. More than 150 scouts will be in attendance. Admission is $10.

BASEBALL
Union, Oxnard to host casino night
Local Labor Union 585 will present the Oxnard College baseball casino night on Jan. 20, from 3 to p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 600 S. D St., Oxnard.
Cost is $40 per person, including dinner and script money.
There will be a sports memorabilia auction. Sponsor tables will be available for $300.
Roger Frash is seeking donations and door prizes.

RUNNING
Drossin Kastor to host event Dec. 23
Olympic marathoner Deena Drossin Kastor, an Agoura High graduate, will host a run on Sunday, Dec. 23.
The 4-6 mile run will start at Future Track, a running store located at 30135 Agoura Road, at 8:30 a.m.

BASKETBALL
VC will host fundraiser barbecue
The Ventura college women will host the ninth annual fundraiser barbecue dinner and game on Jan. 5. The Pirates will play Foothill College at 7 p.m.
Dinner will be served from 4 to 6:30 p.m. The menu includes tri-tip and or chicken, chili, salad, bread and beverage. Cost for adult ticket is $12 in advance and $ for children 12 and under/ Tickets at the door are $15 and $10. Proceeds will be benefit Ventura College women's basketball, Breakers youth and the Ventura County Pirates club teams.
