Duke to name Cutcliffe as its new coach
David Cutcliffe, the former Mississippi coach who spent the last two seasons as Tennessee's offensive coordinator, was hired by Duke on Friday, The Associated Press has learned.
Cutcliffe will be introduced as Duke's head coach during a news conference today, a person familiar with the decision said on condition of anonymity.

Union: punishment of Pacman' excessive
The NFL players' union appealed the seasonlong suspension of Titans cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones, calling the punishment excessive.
Jones, the sixth pick overall in the 2005 draft, was suspended by Goodell for the 2007 season in April. Las Vegas police said Jones incited a strip club fight that led to a triple shooting Feb. 19, leaving one man paralyzed.
Officer won't face charges in shooting of Chargers linebacker: A police officer won't face criminal charges for shooting and wounding former San Diego Chargers linebacker Steve Foley during a late-night confrontation in September 2006.
Roethlisberger back at practice: Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger practiced after sitting out two days because of a sore right shoulder, a sign he expects to play Sunday against Jacksonville.
SWIMMING
Cseh breaks own world record
Laszlo Cseh broke his own world record at Debrecen, Hungary, in the 400-meter individual medley event, his second world record in two days.
The Hungarian finished in 3 minutes, 59.33 seconds at the European Short Course Swimming Championships. Cseh set his previous record of 4:00.37 in Trieste, Italy, in December 2005.

Capello new England national coach
Fabio Capello of Italy was appointed England's national soccer coach. He replaces Steve McClaren, who was fired last month after England failed to qualify for the 2008 European Championship.
SKIING
Cuche captures World Cup super-G
At Val Gardena, Italy, Didier Cuche of Switzerland won a super-G for his first victory of the World Cup season and Bode Miller got his first top-three finish since breaking away from the U.S. ski team.
Cuche covered the 1.47-mile Saslong course in 1 minute, 36.62 seconds on a clear day. Miller was 0.02 seconds behind.
FIGURE SKATING
Takahashi takes lead after short program
Daisuke Takahashi of Japan took the lead in the men's event of the Grand Prix Final figure skating championship at Turin, Italy, edging Switzerland's Stephane Lambiel in the short program with a crowd-pleasing hip-hop version of Swan Lake.
Errors by the two American men cost them leading positions. U.S. champion Evan Lysacek two-footed his quad toeloop and was in third, while Johnny Weir fell on a triple axel to be in fourth.
