Officer Ernest Edward Eglin, Jr. Retires
After over twenty-nine years of service to the Oxnard community as part of the Oxnard Police Department, Police Officer Ernest Edward Eglin, Jr. has retired.
Officer Eglin began his career with the Oxnard Police Department on September 18, 1978 as a Patrol Officer and during his tenure he also served as Task Force member and as a Detective in the Field Tactical Unit. He also served as an Honor Guard member where he was responsible for representing the Oxnard Police Department at numerous formal events. Officer Eglin also served as a Burglary Detective and investigated property crimes committed against members of this community and he worked tirelessly to recover property stolen from victims and to hold criminals responsible for their illicit actions. Officer Eglin completed the final years of his career in the Traffic Unit as a Motorcycle Officer where he was charged with identifying problematic roadways within the City and finding lasting solutions in an attempt to make our roadways safe for motorists and pedestrians alike. Through his commitment to his job, coworkers and the community, Officer Eglin has played a vital role in fulfilling the Police Department's mission statement of reducing crime, disorder and the fear of crime while providing an enhanced quality of life for all those who live, work and visit our City.The City of Oxnard extends best wishes and congratulations for over twenty-nine years of outstanding service to our great community.Contact Person:Sergeant Randy Latimer
