Hiller 55th - Anniversary
On August 16, 2007, Dr. and Mrs. Maynard Hiller of Thousand Oaks celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary. Kathryn Ann Mielitz and Maynard Allyn Hiller of LeRoy, Minn. were united in 1942.
Kay and Maynard both attended Macalester College in Minn. Upon graduation, Maynard transferred to Iowa State University while Kay chose to forgo her career for the honorable profession of supporting the family and putting Maynard through school. Maynard earned his Ph.D. in Chemistry in 1959.
Maynard got a job with Atomics International so the family, which then included two children, moved to Canoga Park, Calif. In 1964, A.I. recognized Maynard's many talents in the field of chemistry and he was promoted to a position at Rockwell Aviation Science Center in Thousand Oaks. The family, which had now grown to 4 children, moved to Thousand Oaks. Kay filled many roles including homemaker and terrific Mom while continuing to take several college courses.
In 1970, Maynard changed occupations and began teaching math and science at Simi Valley High School while Kay joined the work force again, as an Administrative Secretary for the Conejo Valley School District.
Both, Maynard and Kay are now enjoying retirement. They spend their time traveling, visiting with family, (which now includes 4 grandchildren), doing home improvements, Bridge Club and organizing an extensive family tree.
Please join us in wishing them many more years of blessings, creating new memories and enjoying everyday together. Congratulations Kay and Maynard!
Your loving family
