Hueneme schools have smooth first day

Things went smoothly as students in the Hueneme Elementary School District returned to campuses this week for the first day of school, said Superintendent Gerald Dannenburg.

A total of 7,725 students were enrolled on the first day, Tuesday— a decrease of 31 compared with the same time last year, Dannenburg said.

This year, students from Hathaway, Haycox and Larsen schools will have the opportunity to participate in the "breakfast in the classroom" program.
