Morning Report: Motorcyclist injured in crash with police vehicle

Police and Fire: A motorcyclist was injured this morning when he crashed into the back of a police vehicle, Oxnard police said.

The accident happened about 5:40 a.m. on Ventura Road near Bard Road in Port Hueneme, said Sgt. Lisa Ragone of the Oxnard Police Department.

An Oxnard police officer was making a traffic stop when a male motorcyclist crashed into the back of his police cruiser, Ragone said.

The police vehicle was parked and the officer was out of the car talking to another motorist when the accident occurred. He was not injured.

Ventura County firefighters last night extinguished a garage fire in Thousand Oaks, authorities said.

The fire was reported at a residence on the 200 block of Windrose Court at 10:54 p.m., fire department officials said. Firefighters squelched the blaze at 11:14 p.m.

No one was reported injured.

The cause of the fire had not been determined this morning and information on the amount of damage it caused was not immediately available, officials said.

----------

Traffic: At 6:40 a.m., the California Highway Patrol was reporting a non-injury hit and run accident on Highway 101 southbound just south of Camarillo Springs Road in Camarillo.

----------

Weather: Temperatures as high as 106 are expected in inland valleys today as a high pressure weather system moves into Southern California from Arizona, the National Weather Service reported.

Temperatures as high as the mid 80s are predicted for the coast after this morning's low clouds and fog dissipate.

Valleys and mountains in the county could continue to see triple digit temperatures through Monday, according to weather service forecasts.

C'mon Officer Smith. Or is it Sgt. Smith?

Wolfie's advise to you is to lighten up, breathe and take the comment for what it was meant. Humor. Wolfie knows these folks drive over the jurisdictional boundaries.

Lay off the donuts and try bran muffins. They make you regular and not so stuffy.

AhhhhhhhhWooooooooooooo

Who cares if they were in Hueneme? Last time I checked Police Officers had Police Officer powers statewide, not just in the city where they work. You think VSO, CHP, and PHPD don't come into Oxnard for a little fun? :-)
