Residents urged to save energy during heat wave
Much of Ventura County is expected to sizzle under a late-August heat-wave today and tomorrow.
Temperatures along the Ventura County coast are expected to be in the mid-80s, according to the National Weather Service.
Temperatures in much of the inland areas are expected to reach into the triple digits.
The California Independent System Operator, a nonprofit corporation charged with operating much of California's high-voltage wholesale power grid, is declaring today and tomorrow "flex-alert days" because of the increased demand for electricity.
Californians are urged to conserve energy during the heat wave, especially from 4 to 6 p.m., a time of peak demand.
