No lightning in Zaca fire zone reported
There were no reports of lightning strikes that firefighters had feared as they battled the nearly eight-week-old Zaca fire on Sunday, a U.S. Forest Service spokesman said.
The blaze had burned about 240,207 acres by Sunday evening.
Firefighters were concerned that more fires could start if lightning struck, spokesman Larry Comerford said.
Forecasters had predicted that skies would be partly or mostly cloudy over the weekend. The higher humidity and cooler weather could have helped lightning ignite dense chaparral, The Associated Press reported.
Firefighters continued battling the blaze with the help of aircraft at the northeast corner, which is west of Highway 33 near Cuyama Peak, according to the Forest Service.
Firefighters had the fire 90 percent contained Sunday evening. The fire has cost about $104 million to fight, with 1,914 personnel assigned.
Highway 33 from Wheeler Gorge to Lockwood Valley Road was opened Saturday evening, and on Sunday evening, officials opened the highway to Quatal Canyon Road.

Reading some of the blogs, you kind of get the idea that the Star pays people to "stir the pot" just to bring in new people to the blog. It worked with me! I jumped on the blog to voice my opinion about the Zaca Fire, after reading post after post by a certain bloggger. I would actually feel better knowing the Star paid that person, as opposed to that person overloading the blog with the same rant.
Oh well, this is just my conspiracy theory!

pcnotvery99 you're right about one thing! There are many sides to the story, but enough is enough on the Zaca Fire! As one blogger said take it up with the Department, you might get somewhere???
