Senior Games to celebrate opening

The opening day celebration for the 2007 Moorpark Senior Games is Sept. 19 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Registered Senior Games participants are invited to a lunch of hot dogs, turkey dogs and veggie dogs, plus salad, beverages and dessert.

The Senior Games Oath will be administered, and the eighth Moorpark Senior Games will be declared officially open. A buffet lunch will be presented at Civic Center Park in front of the Moorpark Active Adult Center.

Entertainment will be provided by Chris DeKlotz and the Golden Pipers recorder group.

The Biennial Moorpark Senior Games offer competition for those 55 and up and will run through Oct. 12.

Gold, silver and bronze medals will be awarded at the closing ceremony and luncheon in October at the end of the series tournaments.

VENTURA

Warm water pool open for therapy

The Easter Seals warm-water pool in Ventura offers year-round swim lessons for those with special needs. Private lessons are available for those dealing with autism, cerebral palsy, and developmental delay. Semi-private personal training is also available. The program offers a variety of fitness classes specializing in exercise for those who suffer from arthritis, low back pain and the after-effects of stroke.
