This is the avenue, part of life, for now. The only way to change this is for people to start the gentrification process, someone has to be brave and start bringing in capital and investments to the Ventura Avenue area.

Anna, it's not getting worse, you're just reading about it more. It's the same as it's always been. You're probably just too afraid to go anywhere near downtown after dark.

gman, there are investments going into the Avenue. It's a slow process and the community there needs to take part, not just complain about it and not do anything.

Surfmedic, get off your high horse, these are comments not complaints. The people who live in the avenue know its not safe to be out there after dark, they are afraid for reasons like this, robberies, gang intimidation, murder. There is a big difference between Main St(downtown) and Ventura Ave.

surfmedic91,I have walked in the most dangerous places where even an ARMY boy would be afraid to go. And yes I have fear........Of course me being a woman and you a man my chances of getting raped are what 100% more likely? In fact I was just there on the Ave a couple weeks ago dropping off a friend who lives there. I dont know exactly how to take your comment or how you meant it....

imbetnonit ,gman knows that ! He was replying to another comment.
