Street Sense takes Travers
Kentucky Derby winner Street Sense was tested until the very end, holding off a determined Grasshopper and winning the $1 million Travers Stakes at Saratoga Race Course on Saturday at Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
Street Sense, a 1-4 favorite on a hot, steamy day at the Spa, covered the 1 miles in 2:02.69.

U.S. routs Canada at FIBA Americas
The United States held Canada to just two field goals in a dominant second quarter, pulling away for a 113-63 victory to remain unbeaten in the FIBA Americas tournament in Las Vegas.
Carmelo Anthony scored 25 points and Michael Redd added 19, including five 3-pointers, and Kobe Bryant had 15.

Americans finish 1-2 in shot put
Reese Hoffa won the shot put while training partner Adam Nelson took second for a 1-2 U.S. finish on the opening night of the world track and field championships at Osaka, Japan.
TENNIS
Blake, Kuznetsova win titles
James Blake beat close friend Mardy Fish 7-5, 6-4 to win an All-American final at the Pilot Pen in New Haven, Conn.
Top-seeded Svetlana Kuznetsova won the women's title when qualifier Agnes Szavay retired with a back injury while leading 6-4, 0-3.
BOXING
Warren makes Olympic team again
Rau'shee Warren, 20, became the first American boxer in 31 years to qualify for consecutive Olympic teams by overpowering Qa'id Muhammad in the flyweight championship at the U.S. Olympic trials in Houston.
