Authorities identify man shot to death near Santa Paula

A man shot and killed Friday evening just east of Santa Paula was been identified as Edgar Flores, 27, according to the county Medical Examiner's Office.

The Santa Paula resident was found shot multiple times and pronounced dead at the scene.

About 5:45 p.m. deputies from the Santa Clara Valley Station and Fillmore Police Department responded to a call about shots fired in the 100 block of Ferris Lane.

When they arrived, they found Flores.

Working through the night, officers with the Sheriff's Major Crimes division and the newly established gang unit located three suspects in Ventura and arrested them at a residence in the 900 block of Santa Fe Avenue.

The suspects were identified as Paul Carrillo, 19, of Ventura, Miguel Rodriguez, 20, and Manuel Rodriguez, 19, both of Santa Paula. They were arrested on suspicion of murder and street terrorism.

Anyone with information about this crime may call the Ventura County Major Crimes Unit at 477-7000 and speak with Sgt. Steve Rhods.

Good work Ventura county sheriff’s now if this was taking over by another agency ( S.P.P.D. ) their would be no arrest on suspicion of murder and street terrorism. Once again “GOOD WORK” to the Ventura County Sheriff for the fast response…!

First of all, the murder happended outside of the city limits, which falls into the boundries of the sheriff. I noticed a whole lot of Santa Paula Officers at the scene too. When the report is done and it is public inforamtion, go get yourself a copy. You will see which agency solved the case. Looks like "Speedy" does not like the Santa Paula cops...mostly likely because they do their job and he falls into the relm of "their job".

I am so glad they caught these gangbanger idiots. They are so young, and now they have ruined not only their lives, but the lives of the families of this unfortunate victim. My prayers go out to these families. I pray everyday that these senseless killings amoungst our own race will one day end. We all came into this world with nothing, and that's exactly what we are going to leave with. The sidewalk or street corner you claim is yours, well guess what - you're not going to take them with you when you're gone, nor will you take the so-called respect you think you've earned. No, my dears, that's not respect, it's fear. So tell me this, what have you accomplished?

Speedy, let me ask you this. The Ventura County Sheriff Patrols Fillmore and other cities in the county. The crime rate goes up significantly. Santa Paula Police have squashed a ton of crime. It sounds like you get contacted by the Santa Paula cops and that is why you don't like them. Go hang in Fillmore where the criminals are free to do what they please. Let people know the real reason why you want the "Change", so you can run free and terrorize the streets of Santa Paula. It won't happen because the goods citizens of this city will not let it happen. Look at what our officers do. They do more that any other law enforcement agency in this county. And they do it for less. They are committed and do an awesome job. Sorry "Speedy" but you can't hide your true colors on this issue. Does Penal Code 261 sound familiar Speedy?

Hmm, speedy good eye, now that I think about it, it does seem that the SPPD take longer to get answers to our crimes. "Change" not a bad Idea.

Sure, the murder ocurred on Sheriff's jurisdiction, but in reality, the S.P.P.D. were the ones to solve the case! GOOD WORK S.P.P.D.!!!

Duh, the local police department should be more familiar with this city's demographic and subsequently assist in the Sherriff's investigation. In reality, if departments work together to solve these issues, and as a result of that accomplish the task in a prompt manner, then more power to them, that's excellent. Collaboration, even if it's not due to "jurisdictions" and such, is a great tool, especially when most law enforcement officers have the similar idea/goal, in this situation, solving a case.

Unfornutately the SPPD only works hard when they seek a tax increase for wage raises, or for better employee's benefits. Those times they do excellent service. Other times when there is no tax increase initiatives they go into hibernating mode. Its sad, but its a fact. Look at all the graffity, and small crimes happening each day. Look at how many drug dealers are working within the city, but somehow they are small enough not to warrant arrests. I have complained several times about drug dealers in my neighborhood, leaving names, dates, and info as license plates, but for three years, this kids have been running a good enterprise selling drugs right where the high school bus stops.

The graffity problem also persists in several areas, and there is a pattern of where it occurs at least once a week, but instead of patrolling those areas, they occuppy their time on other things.

If SPPD really wanted to get criminals off the streets they have the resources, and the collaboration of many citizens and informants. All they lack is the will. I can guarantee that next time they seek a raise with another tax initiative they will be working 100%.

"Angelito". Instead of handling your "small crimes" they are solving murders. but you seem to know it all, don't you. I have heard your type. You just look for things to complain about. You could win a 400 million dollar lottery, but you would complain that it was not 500 million. SPPD does a great job with what they got. You want your little bus stop drug dealers arrested, then support the tax initiative for more cops.
