The 5th Annual Primer Nationals will be held Labor Day weekend, Sept. 1-2, at the Ventura Fairgrounds from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The annual event is one of California's largest hot rod shows as well as Ventura's largest old-school event. Pre-1965 American hot rods, customs, trucks, race cars, woody's, lowriders and American and British motorcycles will be featured. An awesome lineup of live rockabilly and surf bands will perform all weekend long. The show also will feature kustom artists and vendors as well as the Wall of Death and a raffle. Admission is $10; $5 for military with ID; children under 12, Free.

Conejo Valley Neighborhood for Learning and Adopt-A-Future Foundation will be hosting the Road to the Future Exotic and Classic Car show Sept. 2 at Parque de la Paz, 2522 Pleasant Way, in Thousand Oaks.
This annual event will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and cars must be on-site by 9 a.m. Parking will be on both closed streets and grass.
Trophies will be given for Best of Show, Best of Class for Exotics and Classics plus second and third place, judged best Vintage by Class, Ladies Choice, Oldest Car, Furthest Distance and People's Choice. Trophies and prizes will be awarded at 2 p.m.
Entry fee is $35 and entry is open to the first 200 cars. All entrants will receive lunch and be provided access to a private owners reception area. Preregistration is available.
Admission is $5; children 5 and younger are free. The event will feature live jazz, raffle prizes, famous Elks barbeque and activities for children.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Conejo Valley Neighborhood for Learning which prepares children five and younger for school and assures that they have access to health and family resources.

Ventura Vintage Rods will host the Harbor Run 17 Car Show on Sept. 9 at Channel Islands Harbor in Oxnard.
The annual event will begin at 8 a.m. with awards being presented at 1:30 p.m.
Parking on the grass is open to the first 250 cars, 1975 and earlier street rods, customs and pickups.
Entry is $20 on the day of the show; there is no preregistration.
The event is free for spectators.
The show also will feature vendors, food, prize drawings and The National Street Rod Association will be on hand for inspections.
Proceeds benefit local charities.

The San Fernando Valley Region of the Vintage Chevrolet Club of America is hosting its annual All-Chevrolet Car Show on Sept. 9 at Community Chevrolet, 200 W. Olive Ave. in Burbank, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
All entries get a show T-shirt and a Carl's Jr. lunch included with their entry fee, compliments of Community Chevrolet. Members of the VCCA can have their cars judged for originality and correctness.

Red Line Corvettes, in conjunction with the Thousand Oaks Police Department and the Conejo Recreation & Parks District, will hold its 14th Annual Car Show on Sept. 16 at Conejo Creek Park in Thousand Oaks.
Admission is free for spectators and the show will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Registration will be held from 8 to 9:30 a.m. with judging starting at 10 a.m. and awards presented at 2:30 p.m.
The event will feature entertainment, drawings, food and beverages, vendors, a silent auction and a Santa Maria-style barbecue by the Thousand Oaks Elks.
Proceeds from the event will support the Thousand Oaks Police Explorer Program and Hospice of the Conejo.
The car show is open to Corvettes from all model years. Last year's event drew more than 100 Corvettes from all parts of California and more than 2,000 spectators.
Entry fee is $20 by Sept. 8 and $25 after Sept. 8. Each entry receives a free photo of his or her Corvette and a variety of trophies will be awarded, including Thousand Oaks Police Choice and Best of Show.

The Tri-Counties Mustang Club will host Ponies by the Sea at Ventura Harbor on Oct. 14 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., rain or shine.
Check-in begins at 8 a.m. and awards will be given for first through third place along with Best in Show and Best Paint.
Registration before Oct. 1 is $30; $35 on the day of the show. Entry forms are available online at www.TCMustangClub.org.

Cruise nights
Newbury Park Cruise Night is held at 4:30 p.m. every Saturday, weather permitting. The location is the Newbury Park Gateway shopping center at Kelly and Newbury roads, in front of Kohl's department store.
All high-performance, muscle cars and hot rods are welcome.

Cruise Night Santa Paula, co-sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce, Police Officers Association and the City of Santa Paula is held on the first Friday of each month, April through October, from 6 to 9 p.m. on Main Street in downtown Santa Paula. The event is free and open to pre-1974 motor vehicles.

The Channel Islands Chapter of the Pontiac-Oakland Club International presents Ventura Night the fourth Friday of each month, April through September, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at The Tailgate Grill (formerly Hudson's Grill) at 4722 Telephone Road, Ventura. All makes and models are welcome, and ample parking is available.

Museums, exhibits
The Petersen Automotive Museum is featuring "Microcars: The Minimum in Motoring" through Feb. 3, 2008.
The exhibit will put the history of the smallest automobiles of the last 70 years under the magnifying glass, exploring their rapid rise to popularity before World War II and their subsequent fall, as drivers opted for wider seats, more cargo space and bigger engines.
The museum is at 6060 Wilshire Blvd. in Los Angeles.
Admission prices are $10 for adults, $5 for seniors and students with ID, and $3 for children ages 5 to 12. Museum members and children under five are admitted free. Covered parking is available for $6 per car.
Museum hours are Tuesday through Sunday and holiday-Mondays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Murphy Auto Museum features a large collection of vintage automobiles, including classics of the '30s, streetrods, and muscle cars on loan courtesy of local residents.
Visit at 2230 Statham Blvd. in Oxnard, one mile east of Five-Points off Oxnard Blvd. It is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday.

Club meetings
The Central Coast British Car Club (formerly Central Coast Triumphs) meets at 7 p.m. the first Tuesday of each month at Carrow's Restaurant on the corners of Harbor Blvd. and Seaward Avenue in Ventura.

The Ventura V-8 Club, an early Ford V-8 Club of America Chapter, meets the third Tuesday of each month at Carrows Restaurant, 301 E. Daily Drive in Camarillo. Dinner is at 6 p.m. followed by a club meeting at 7 p.m. The club invites those interested in 1932 to 1953 Fords to attend.

Ventura County Chevys invites those interested in the preservation, restoration and/or modification of 1955 to 1957 Chevrolet automobiles, trucks and other pre-1972 Chevrolet automobiles and hot rods to attend club meetings at the Simi Valley Unified School District Wood Ranch Conference Center. Motor Monarchs Inc. was established in 1948 and is Ventura County's oldest hot rod club. Meetings are conducted at various locations throughout the county.

Ventura Vintage Rods is a family-oriented club open to pre-1973 street rods, customs, panels and pick-ups. The club has monthly meetings at different locations and sponsors a variety of outings such as cruises, poker runs, dinners and visits to special places.
The club also plans and organizes the annual Harbor Run car show held each September at the Channel Islands Harbor in support of local charities.
