Three arrested following undercover operation

Detectives from the Ventura County Sheriff's Department this week arrested three alleged drug dealers after a month-long undercover investigation, authorities said.

The suspects, all Fillmore residents, were arrested Wednesday evening on the 1900 block of Old Telegraph Road in Fillmore, according to a prepared statement from the Sheriff's Department.

Jose Jesus Salcedo, 58; Altagracia Robles, and Christopher Luque, 36, were arrested on suspicion of possession and sale of narcotics, according to the Sheriff's Department Web site.

All three were booked into Ventura County Jail. Salcedo and Robles were being held Friday in lieu of $250,000 bail while Luque was being held in lieu of $75,000 bail.

Detectives and members of the Fillmore Gang Unit seized 30 grams of methamphetamine and 14 grams of cocaine, with a total street value of about $1,400, at the residence where the suspects were arrested, according to the statement.

Law enforcement personnel also found more than $6,500 in cash at the residence.

The knee-jerk reaction is to say, "good job," but really, do you think that it is worth one month's worth of man (and woman) hours to bust two petty dealers like these when we have much more pressing issues that police should deal with, like drunk driving and violent crimes. Busts like these serve little purpose and contribute greatly to prison overcrowding.

Svwl- What are you talking about? Drug dealing is a serious crime...People on meth drive cars and also commit violent crimes. Busts like these serve a huge purpose. Overcrowding in prisons is due to the lack of prisons and a high population.
The Sheriff's Dept. did a great job catching these drug dealers. Take them off our streets. Excellent job Sheriff Department.

Sorry to say, OxnardResident, the credit goes to the Ventura County Sheriff as the article reported but, who knows? Maybe OPD participated, too?
