Guitar group to celebrate anniversary
The Ventura County Classical Guitar Society will celebrate its ninth anniversary at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Pleasant Valley Recreation and Park District Senior Center, 1609 Burnley Ave., Camarillo.
The event will feature ensembles and solos at 7 p.m. Carlos Gonzales, guest guitarist, will play at 8 p.m.

Organic Garden and Herb Society to meet
The Conejo Valley Organic Garden and Herb Society will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Newbury Park Library, 2331 Borchard Road.
The topic of the meeting is lawnless landscapes.
The group is dedicated to teaching the principles and practices of successful organic gardening. To that end, club members share seeds, plants and produce.

OXNARD
Diabetes fundraiser and car show set
Oxnard Eagles 232 will present the fourth annual Robert Hansen Diabetes Fundraiser & Car Show Saturday.
The car show and barbecue will be from noon to 4 p.m. Hot dogs, hamburgers, tri-tip and chicken plates will be available for purchase. There is no cost to attend the car show.
A dance will begin at 8 p.m. and end at midnight. Music will be provided by DJ PFunk. Cost of the dance is $5.
Attendees are encouraged to take lawn chairs. The Eagles Hall is at 4684 Saviers Road.

VFW Post 2043 moves meeting place
The Santa Paula VFW Post 2043 has relocated its meeting place to the Limoneira Pavilion Building at 55 Hallock Drive.
The day and time of the meeting will remain the same — the second Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m.

VENTURA
Teaching Zoo guest at Bird Club meeting
Ventura County Bird Club will have a free presentation and speakers from the Moorpark Teaching Zoo at 7 p.m. Aug. 30.
Moorpark Teaching Zoo was started in 1974 with only one wolf and now has almost 200 animals. The collection has included exotic animals ranging from Marmosets to an Asian elephant, leopard geckos to alligators, turacos to emus. The program currently has a Bengal tiger, an African lioness, a spotted hyena, mountain lions, a California sea lion, and a wide variety of primates, birds and many other exotic and endangered animals. The speakers will talk about the Moorpark Zoo and bring some of their ambassador animals.

WESTLAKE VILLAGE
Guild to hold meeting and luncheon Sept. 5
Jonsson Cancer Center Foundation Conejo Valley Guild will hold its general meeting and luncheon at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 5. at the Westlake Village Inn.
Featured speaker is Kira Wagner, author and humorist.
Guests are welcome with reservation by Aug. 30; cost is $25.
