Jaeckel named Moorpark running coach
Mark Jaeckel has been named as girls' cross country and track coach at Moorpark High, confirmed athletic director Rob Dearborn.
He replaces Tara Thomas, who was promoted as a junior high assistant principal.
Jaeckel is a former coach at American University. He worked with Paramount Pictures for 20 years.
For the last 10 years, Jaeckel has coached with the Moorpark Striders youth track program. He was an assistant coach at Moorpark last year.
"He will be able to build on what Tara did for the program," said Dearborn. Last year, Moorpark placed 14th at the CIF-Southern Section Division II cross country championships.
"This is what I always wanted to do," said Jaeckel. "Everything that I have done in the past has helped me to this point."
