Firefighter comedy show canceled

A firefighter comedy show scheduled for Saturday has been canceled because of lost sales due to the Zaca fire in Los Padres National Forest, officials said.

Many local firefighters had purchased tickets but were called to help battle the fire, said Oxnard fire inspector Sergio Martinez, who helped organize the event.

"Maybe it was bad timing," he said.

Hosted by the Oxnard Fire Department, Hot Comedy Night was set to benefit the Fallen Firefighters Memorial Fund by featuring comics such as Ruben Quintana and Jay Lamont.

The show was scheduled for 6 p.m. Saturday at the Oxnard Performing Arts Center.

All purchased tickets will be fully refunded, Martinez said. Those who purchased tickets online can visit or call the Performing Arts Center box office to receive a refund.
