Fire Dept. hires new information officer
The Ventura County Fire Department has hired a new public information officer, officials announced this week.
Bill Nash will work out of the fire department's Camarillo headquarters as a marketing and public information officer.
Nash will assist department spokesman Capt. Barry Parker on emergency and routine issues and provide information about subjects such as fire prevention and safety, authorities said.
No stranger to fire stations, Nash served in the Santa Paula Fire Department for 10 years before retiring in 1998, he said. He comes to the Ventura County Fire Department from Seminis Vegetable Seeds, where he worked for nine years in public relations, marketing and advertising.
Nash, who writes a community column for The Star, is enthusiastic about the new position, which combines his passion for firefighting and writing.
"It's kind of a dream job for me," he said.
Nash can be reached at 389-9746 or bill.nash@ventura.org.
