Literary Happenings: Three mystery authors to sign books in Thousand Oaks

Mystery fan alert! Three popular authors will visit Mysteries to Die For in Thousand Oaks on Saturday.

At 11:30 a.m., William Kent Krueger will sign "Thunder Bay," the newest title in his Cork O'Connor series set in Aurora, Minn. Asked to find the long-lost son of Ojibwe medicine man Henry Meloux, O'Connor discovers a trail crossing the U.S.-Canada border that entails greed, history and murder. "Action-packed and suspenseful, this may be Krueger's finest work yet," said the staff at Mysteries to Die For.

At 1 p.m., Gregg Hurwitz will sign "The Crime Writer." When crime novelist Drew Danner awakens in a hospital bed with a head wound and no memory of being at the site of his fiancée's murder, he confronts his deepest fears to discover his own innocence or guilt. Store staff called the story "beautifully crafted and heartbreakingly told."

At 2:30 p.m., Lee Goldberg will sign "Mr. Monk and the Two Assistants." Compulsive detective Monk finds himself caught between two women when the husband of his former assistant is arrested for murder, then becomes embroiled in a murder case with a killer who proves to be one step ahead of Monk himself.

Mysteries to Die For is at 2940 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd. For information or to preorder books, call 374-0084.
