Garcia wins pro debut by knockout
Javier "Pelos" Garcia continued the Garcia legacy with a second-round knockout in his pro debut Thursday night at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. Garcia came out relaxed and patient in the first round, but landed with overhand rights that left some bruising over his opponent's left eye.
In the second round Garcia floored his opponent with body shots that sent him to the ground and was then counted out. Garcia almost didn't fight when his original opponent, Freudas Rojas, did not pass his eye exam. Luckily, a replacement was found and Garcia agreed to fight at 138 pounds instead of the original 135 while his opponent weighed in at 142.
