GIRLS' VOLLEYBALL
Oxnard goes 1-2 at Kaua'i Challenge
The Oxnard High girls' vollleyball team opened the sixth annual Kaua'i Challenge with a win and two losses on Thursday in pool play.
Oxnard defeated Oahu Rosevelt 25-18 25-16 and lost to Rancho Cucamonga Los Osis, 26-28, 25-27, and Molokai, 22-25, 23-25.
Tessa Reeder had 23 kills and Jourdan Tubaco had 43 assists and seven kills in the three matches.
Buena is also at the tournament and went 2-1 on the opening day.
BASEBALL
Fall ball registration for Simi Valley
Simi Valley Little League will hold fall ball registration today from 8 a.m. to noon. Boys and girls ages 5-16 may register and the fee is $80. The league is offering a two-for-one deal where one can register and bring a new player for free.
The league is located at Knolls Park, 1300 Katherine Road, Simi Valley. Registration will be accepted online through Aug. 20 at eteamz.active.com/simivalleylittleleague or by calling 520-0555.
SOFTBALL
Predators hosting tryouts on Sunday
The 18-and-under Predators Gold travel ball team will hold tryouts on Sunday at Rancho Conejo Park from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Information: Frank Blauvelt at 818-601-6419.

Real SoCal open in national tourney
Real SoCal's under-16 and under-15 teams opened play in the Red Bull Girls' National League tournament at Danville on Friday.
The under-16 lost to CASL Elite 4-2, with Thousand Oaks High's Michelle Cruz and Agoura's Brittany Held scoring for Real. The under-15 team beat Eclipse Select 2-1.
