Man among those arrested in underage sex sting

A Simi Valley man was among more than a dozen people arrested recently in a sting operation that focused on the use of the Internet to arrange for sex with minors.

Shalendra Avi Parasram, 27, was arrested Aug. 2 in connection with the undercover operation, according to the FBI's Los Angeles office. He was later charged by the Los Angeles County District Attorney for traveling to meet with a minor for the purpose of engaging in lewd or lascivious behavior, a felony.

The investigation was conducted by agents and officers assigned to the FBI's Sexual Assault Felony Enforcement and the Los Angeles Police Department.

Investigators targeted dozens of suspects in the greater Los Angeles area who allegedly sought to chat with minors online, said Peter Brust, special agent in charge of the FBI's Cyber Division in Los Angeles.

Brust said 11 of the suspects, including Parasram, made plans to meet with what they thought were minors at a pre-arranged place. Once there, the suspects were arrested and later charged with the felony.

Two other men were arrested on different charges in connection with the operation.

nacho87, What? You do know that Simi Valley has over 100 registered child predators? With over 100,000 residents their is bound to be a bit of everything. We are safe as far as major felony crimes compared to cities with a larger population. I live in Simi, it's a great place to live. I'd rather live here than a larger city. We have a great police dept. and other public officials. That being said, Oxnard has some very nice areas. Unfortunately, it does have some really bad areas. To say what you said is just plain prejudice and racist. Grow up.
