SWIMMING

As the 2007 Summer Junior Olympic Championships came to a close on Sunday in Fullerton, Conejo Simi Aquatics swimmers emerged from one of their most successful championship meets ever.  With tough competition from some of Orange County's powerhouse teams like first- place Mission Viejo, FAST and Golden West, and many heats and finals that were markedly faster than those being swam at the Canyons Junior Olympic meet, and with the departure of several athletes for Junior Nationals, CSA swimmers rose to the occasion, bringing home five gold, nine silver and four bronze individual medals.  Seventeen swimmers earned top-eight status and 21 placed in the top 16. Numerous CSA team records were taken down, and CSA emerged with plaques for sixth place in the combined team scores and sixth place for the boys. The girls just missed the plaque, coming in seventh overall.
