Another Garcia to make pro debut
First came Roberto Garcia. Then came Miguel Angel Garcia.
Now there's 18-year-old Javier "Pelos" Garcia.
Miguel, 19, is the younger brother of Roberto and has an impressive pro record of 9-0 with eight knockouts. Javier, who is the nephew of Roberto, will be making his professional debut in a four-round lightweight fight tonight at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.
Javier's opponent will be Freudas Rojas (-1), a Cuban fighter out of Las Vegas.
Javier is trained by Roberto and represents La Colonia/PAL boxing club in Oxnard.
TENNIS
Ventura County tournament returns
The 45th annual Ventura County Tennis Championships will be played Sept. 7-9 at various sites around Ventura. A variety of divisions will be offered for men and women in singles and doubles. Several age divisions will be played.
Cost is $25 for singles and $30 for doubles. Deadline is Aug. 24.

AUTO racing
Car show slated for Ventura Chuy's
Ventura's Chuy's Mesquite Broiler will be the site of a car show on Saturday from noon to 5 p.m. in the parking lot.
The event is free. There will be a variety of race cars on hand, from dirt track, drag racing and street cars. Chuy's is located at 2632 E. Main St., Ventura.
