Karen Quincy Loberg / Star staff 07-31-07 Moorpark: An image of Jesus in a tree has become the subject of local interest in the front yard of Irma Lopez. The Moorpark woman says its a sign that coincides with her daugther expecting a baby this week. According to the daughter, Lisa Lopez, the neighbors have started to come over and pay homage to it.
To Irma Lopez, the figure on the tree in her yard in Moorpark is very clear.
It's the face of Jesus.
"Last Friday I was watering the front yard when I noticed an area on the tree that resembles Jesus," Lopez said. "I threw down the hose and told my daughter Lisa to come outside."
Her daughter agreed.
"After watering the area the figure is clearly visible," said Lopez, a resident of Bard Street for more than 40 years.
Lopez' mother, Elisa Flores, was a Catholic and the backbone of the house. She cared for the yard for many years, and died two years ago.
"This figure on the tree is a blessing for the house," said Lopez.
Alex Meza, who lives across the street, was skeptical.
"At first I was like, are you sure you see something?" he said. "After Irma and Lisa had me come over, I am a true believer, that there is a Jesus figure on the tree," said Meza.
"Maybe it's a sign of God," he added. He noted that Lisa was pregnant, "... so this is a true blessing for her and her family."
Irma Lopez placed two flowerpots and a candle at the base of the tree. She feels it will give her family strength and support.
Her daughter gave birth to a healthy baby boy Tuesday at Simi Valley Hospital.
"At first I thought am I crazy seeing this figure? But now I am a firm believer that the figure was meant to be there," Irma Lopez.
To see for yourself the house is at 484 Bard St. in Moorpark.

I think it look like that scary masked figure in Scream movies. And who really know what Jesus looked like. I mean, really did they make painting of him back in the Biblical days?

I think it looks like an old woman, if anything. I can't believe the Star is wasting time on a story like this. Oh, wait, yes I can.

I'M SORRY BUT THAT FIGURE DOES LOOK ALOT LIKE JESUS LOOKED LIKE IN ALOT OF PHOTOS THAT I HAVE SEEN. HE HAS HIS HEAD SLIGHTLY SLANTED TO THE SIDE LIKE THAT. I HAVE A PIC. OF JESUS IN THAT SAME POSE.> FOR ALL YOU NO BELIEVERS!!!!!!!! I WOULD TAKE IT THAT SAME WAY. MAYBE IT'S HER MOM SENDING DOWN A BLESSING FOR THE ARRIVAL OF THE NEW BABY. AFTERALL THE MOM DID TAKE CARE OF THE YARD FOR 40 YRS. MAYBE IT'S A SIGN FROM THE MOTHER THAT SHE'S STILL THERE AND TAKING CARE OF AND WATCHING OVER HER DAUGHTER/ FAMILY. CONGRATS. ON YOUR NEW BABY BOY.

Reach out and touch faith
Your own personal Jesus, someone to hear your prayers, someone who cares
Feeling unknown, and you're all alone, flesh and bone
By the telephone, lift up the receiver, I'll make you a believer
I will deliver, You know I'm a forgiver
Reach out and touch faith
Your own personal Jesus
Reach out and touch faith

stephanie.ramirez: Like in a lot of photos of Jesus? C'mon now, all you have seen is a variety of mens impressions of what HE looked like. And as an important aside, Mom's do not send down blessings; nor signs; and the deceased do not protect families.
