Police arrest two in beating, burning of Oxnard man
Port Hueneme police have arrested two people suspected of tying an Oxnard man up, beating him, then setting him on fire after dousing him with gasoline.
Miguel Limon, 27, of Oxnard was being treated at a University of Southern California center on Monday for severe third-degree burns to much of his face and body, said Police Cmdr. Jerry Beck.
Police arrested Felipe Juarez, 28, and Anthony Soto, 21, Sunday night for suspicion of attempted murder, kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon and making criminal threats. Both men were in Ventura County Jail on Monday being held on $1 million bail, Beck said.
Beck said Limon was taken to St. Johns Regional Medical Center in Oxnard on Saturday, where police learned of his brutal attack.
Police could get little information from Limon at St. Johns because he was in extreme pain and had to be heavily sedated, Beck said.
It was only later, after Limon was transferred to a burn center at USC, that investigators were able to interview him more at length.
Limon told investigators that he had been beaten and tied up in a house along the 1100-block of North 6th Street in Port Hueneme on Friday. Limon said his assailants then poured gasoline over him and lit him on fire, Beck said.
Limon said he was left in a room of the house tied up overnight.
Limon somehow managed to get free. Someone, possibly a friend, then took him to St. Johns, Beck said.
“We’re still trying to determine how he managed to set himself free,” Beck said.
Police on Sunday searched the house where Limon said he was attacked and held. They also arrested Juarez and Soto on Sunday.
Police called the Ventura County Sheriff’s bomb squad to the house after finding what they suspected were bombs inside the home. Police evacuated some of the nearby homes. The devices were later determined not to be bombs, Beck said.
Beck said police also found weapons and other material they suspect was used in the attack against Limon.
Police are looking for a third man who goes by the name of “Fluffy”. Police suspect the man participated in the attack.
Investigators are also trying to determine why Limon was attacked.
Beck said Limon knew his attackers.
The USC burn center could not provide information on Limon’s condition Monday morning.
Anyone with information about this attack is asked to contact Port Hueneme police at 805-986-6621.

gangs are getting more and more brazen. I can't see how the leftists can continue to feel pity for these people. if the burned guy is an innocent victim, I hope he recovers.

Technically, this happened in Port Hueneme...the victim lives in Oxnard.

Yeah its a good thing Hueneme opted to become its own city, otherwise Oxnard would have an even worse reputation.

Going back to the 50's and up through the 70's, all of our cities and towns were safe except for the downtown area of one city which has always attracted trouble makers. It went downhill from there. Kids could still ride their bikes to the Ventura pier for overnight fishing. Overnighting on the beach or in our beautiful back country was safe.
What has changed and what can we do about it. The answer may be obvious, but the solution certainly isn't.

Izzardn........Hueneme is older than Oxnard, we were never part of it and I don't know any that would like to It Is a nice little beach town that 'others' are allowed to move into. It's getting divier and divier. We are not allowed to dictate who gets to live here and who doesn't. Too bad, but that's the way it is.

What a sick world we live in. It now takes two people to beat someone and then to tie them up and light them on fire? If someone knows this "fluffy" they should report his butt. This is someone's son!
