Judge quits civil case over Oxnard beach death
Judge Frederick Bysshe removed himself Friday as overseer of a civil case involving a sunbather crushed by an Oxnard police vehicle last summer because he's friends with the police chief.
Bysshe disclosed his friendship with Police Chief John Crombach as a potential conflict before recusing himself.
The recusal delayed a hearing in the case that was scheduled for Friday morning. The sunbather's children had asked Bysshe to order the two police officers who drove over their mother to appear for depositions.
Late Friday, the case was reassigned to Judge Ken Riley and the hearing was rescheduled for 8:30 a.m. Thursday.
The city of Oxnard has refused to allow the deposition of the two police officers, according to court records.
The sunbather, Cindy Conolly, 49, of Sioux City, Iowa, died June 12 after an Oxnard Police Department sport utility vehicle driven by Officer Frank Brisslinger drove over her on Mandalay Beach. She and her family had been staying at the Embassy Suites Mandalay Beach Resort for her son's wedding. Brisslinger was patrolling the Oxnard beach with Officer Martin Polo.
City officials have said there's no need for police to testify in the case because the city already has admitted fault in the incident. No settlement has been reached, however.
Conolly's two children, Ronnie Bassett and Tammy Krieger, both of Prior Lake, Minn., have asked the court to order the depositions and sanction the city $4,618.80 for the time spent trying to get them taken.

Lowlife has a bad thoughs for everyone. If I remember right, the lady was not drunk, and the police officers were too busy looking at ladies in little bathing suits to watch were they were going and were not suppose to be there in the first time.
Is lowlife sure about the police eating donuts, seems to me what I read about Oxnard they are busy going after all the shooters.

Easy there LowLife, can you PROVE your allegation that Conolly was drunk? Can your PROVE the involved officers have "cushy jobs"? Can you PROVE they were eating donuts & drinking coffee at Starbucks on 5th Street? Easy now, easy... take a couple of asprin and a nap, then you'll feel better. And jmcgaw3046, if you have PROOF the officers "were too busy looking at ladies in little bathing suits", you should report that to authorities and give that "fact" to the attorneys suing the city. Like I said: "If".

If anyone would take the time to read the DA's report you would see that it'sd entirely possible they didn't see the lady. Those who struggle with geometry might not get it, though.
As for the Starbucks thing...the other day they were at Manhattan Bagel and you know it's the wierdest thing. They were doing something called eating lunch, I believe.

It looks like Judge Bysshe may be straightening up his act. According to the website www.ImpeachBysshe.com, Judge Bysshe has not removed himself from other cases where friends were involved. It will be interesting to see how that case ends. Bysshe will need to pull a rabbit out of his hat to shake those accusations.

Police officers are suppose to be cautious. There's times I've been at the beach and the officers drive up the sand all crazy.I've even seen when they have a wondering eye, they're men even if they have a uniform. The fact is the sun-bathers children want answers even after those millions and they deserve them,The answers.

Luvpaint, your comments are obviously anti-cop... which is your right, but how many "times" did you see officers at the beach "drive up the sand all crazy"? Did you report it? If not, why not and why now? Wow, cops have wondering eyes... do you mean they should have seen Conolly or what? The plaintiffs suing the officers have been given all the very detailed reports (which were scoured by the D.A.'s office)and yes they will get a ton of money WITH OR WITHOUT a deposition. That having been said, it is now a case of wanting more than a ton of money; it's a case of wanting a pound of flesh. The D.A. made his ruling and the civil attorneys' will ha$h out the $$$. It's time to move FORWARD.

muddroute25: Even the bible says money helps...
Ecclesiastes 10:19 "Feasting makes you happy and wine cheers you up, but you can't have either without money."
It is my opinion that while we all know that "money doesn't buy happiness" it sure helps in times of sorrow.

Luvpaint does have a good point regardless what others think. No I am NOT anti-cop. But check out the highest divorce rate with occupations. Its police ! That being said.
I have followed this story and never was it printed anywhere the Mother was drunk ! What this case boils down to is negligence. Do I blame the officers entirely? No I do not. These Officers were never trained as they should have been to do beach patrol and drive in the sand. This comes back onto the city who neglected to train these Officers on something they sent them out to do.
I do feel this was entirely an accident and in no way intentional. Do I feel the family is money hungry ?No I do not. I feel they are entitled to everything they can get. And maybe this will be a lesson to the city to properly train thier men! Its not going to bring thier Mother back But hey it may save someone else Mother the next time they are sent out on beach patrol.
