Man killed in Oxnard auto wreck
Oxnard police investigate the scene of a fatal car accident Saturday morning at the intersection of Gonzales Road and Rice Avenue in Oxnard.
A 37-year-old Oxnard man was declared dead along Gonzales Road early Saturday morning after the car he was driving drifted onto the sidewalk, hit some trees and slammed into a concrete pole, police said.
The white Nissan that Randy Manzanilla Duran was driving hit the pole with such force that it sent the vehicle flying into Gonzales Road, where it landed on its roof, Oxnard police said. The 5:14 a.m. collision happened near the Rice Avenue intersection.
Officers found Duran seriously injured and trapped in the car, said Maria Peña, a senior officer and traffic investigator with the Oxnard Police Department.
Duran was alone at the time of the accident, police said.
An autopsy is scheduled for this morning.
Motorists stopped to help Duran, Peña said, and he was eventually pulled out of the car. But it was too late.
He "sustained fatal injuries as a result of the collision," Peña said.

This was a very tragic accident. I drove past the area at 10:00 A.M. and the vehicle was still there. I heard that it took the paramedics 45 minutes to get there. I really hope this was not true. How devestating!!! My condolences to the family and friends.

I worked with Randy for a short while and he was one of the nicest people there. He listened to me and helped me out a great deal. He talked often about his family. I am in shock over this and feel awful. My heart goes out to his wife and children. When I think of him I can see his smiling face. Godspeed Randy.

by many friends who care
and that you're in our
thoughts and hearts
and in our every prayer
May you find the courage
to face tomorrow
in the love that surrounds
you today.
May the love of friends and family
be a source of comfort to you
at this time
At this time of sorrow
may these truths sustain you..
...your loved one will always be
as close as a memory
and the God of all comfort
is always as close as a prayer.
It will be the little things
that you will remember
the quiet moments, the smiles,
the laughter.
And although it may
seem hard right now,
it will be the memory
of these little things
that help to push away the pain
and bring the smiles back again
