Dos Arboles Productions will present the Ninth Annual Back to the Beach Kustom Kulture Festival today at the Ventura County Fairgounds in Ventura.

Scheduled from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., the show will feature early American hot rods, custom cars, woodies, low riders, motorcycles, trucks and race cars. Among the vendors will be tiki carvers and various food and drinks. Live music will be provided including a surf band.

Entry to show your vehicle at the car show is $25 and includes passes for two people. No Volkswagens, trikes or vehicles on trailers; all vehicles must drive into the show.

Swap meet spaces also are available.

General admission is $10 for adults, $5 for military personnel and children 12 and under are free.

The Channel Islands Chapter of the Pontiac-Oakland Club International and Ventura Harbor Village present the Sixth Annual "Chiefs Along The Channel" Pontiac Car Show on April 29 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Check-in will take place from 8 to 10 a.m.

Registration before Monday will be $20; $25 thereafter and day of the show.

The show will take place on the grass at Ventura Harbor Village, along Spinnaker Drive in Ventura. There will be first- and second-place trophies in eight classes, as well as best of show, long distance and president's awards.

The show will feature shopping, food, a raffle and 50/50 drawing and live music will be provided by John Marx and the Blues Patrol.

The Chapter has adopted FOOD Share of Ventura County as recipient of a portion of the proceeds from the show and all are asked to bring canned and non-perishable food items for this worthy cause. Barrels will be provided for food drop-offs.

The 11th Annual ROP/Lions Car Show, "Revving It Up For Education" will be held May 6, from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Participants may check in from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Proceeds from the show benefit the Ventura County Regional Occupational Program, a public school vocational training center. The show is co-sponsored by ROP and the Pleasant Valley Lions Club and is held in a park-like setting at the Camarillo Airport in Camarillo. The Lions Club will serve their famous LionBurgers and the event will feature doo wop music from the '50s and '60s.

The event is free.

First-place trophies are awarded in 55 classes. Pre-76 hot rods, cars and trucks may compete. Added class for newer vehicles. Registration is $20. They also award distance, club participation and special award trophies.

The Fallen Heroes Memorial Run is set for June 9.

Led by celebrities, such as Rick Allen of Def Leppard riding his custom trike, the ride will start in Hollywood outside of old Fire Station 27, the Los Angeles Fire Department's Firefighting Museum, travel out to the coast with the first stop at Malibu's Gladstone's and end at Paramount Ranch in Agoura.

In its ninth year, the ride has grown by word of mouth.

All of the proceeds from the ride go to benefit the Widows, Orphans and Disabled Firemen's Fund.

Riders can register at 8:30 a.m. the day of the ride, outside of old Fire Station 27 at 1355 Cahuenga in Hollywood.

The ride will depart Hollywood at approximately 10 a.m. A fee of $45 will cover registration, lunch, a poker hand, event T-shirt and, for the first 500 attendees, a commemorative ride pin.

Cruise nights

The Channel Islands Chapter of the Pontiac-Oakland Club International presents Ventura Night the fourth Friday of each month, April through September, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at The Tailgate Grill (formerly Hudson's Grill) at 4722 Telephone Road, Ventura. All makes and models are welcome, and ample parking is available.

Cruise Night Santa Paula, co-sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce, Police Officers Association and the City of Santa Paula is held on the first Friday of each month, April through October, from 6 to 9 p.m. on Main Street in downtown Santa Paula. The event is free and open to pre-1974 motor vehicles.

Museums, exhibits

"Ed Roth The Original Rat Fink" exhibit at Petersen Automotive Museum runs through June 3.

It explores the artistic methods that Roth embraced, including drawing cartoons, pinstriping and sculpting unique automotive creations in fiberglass.

The museum is at 6060 Wilshire Blvd. in Los Angeles.

Admission prices are $10 for adults, $5 for seniors and students with ID, and $3 for children ages 5 to 12. Museum members and children under five are admitted free. Covered parking is available for $6 per car.

Museum hours are Tuesday through Sunday and holiday-Mondays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Murphy Auto Museum features a large collection of vintage automobiles, including classics of the '30s, streetrods, and muscle cars on loan courtesy of local residents.

Visit at 2230 Statham Blvd. in Oxnard, one mile east of Five-Points off Oxnard Blvd. It is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday.

Club meetings

The Tri-County Mustang Club meets at 7 p.m. the fourth Wednesday of each month at Santino's restaurant, 4231 Telegraph Road in Ventura.

Channel Island Pontiac Car Club meets at 7 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month at Tailgate Grill & Bar, 4722 Telephone Road in Ventura. It is open to all Pontiac enthusiasts.

The Central Coast British Car Club (formerly Central Coast Triumphs) meets at 7 p.m. the first Tuesday of each month at Carrow's Restaurant on the corners of Harbor Blvd. and Seaward Avenue in Ventura.

Motor Monarchs Inc. was established in 1948 and is Ventura County's oldest hot rod club. Meetings are conducted at various locations throughout the county.

Ventura County Corvette Club, sponsored by Todey Chevrolet in Oxnard, meets at 7 p.m. the second Wednesday of each month at Carrows Restaurant, Seaward Avenue and Harbor Boulevard, in Ventura.

The Porsche Club of America, Santa Barbara Region meets at 8:30 a.m. the first Saturday of each month at the Way Point Cafe at the Camarillo Airport and at 9 a.m. on the second Saturday of the month at the Harbor Restaurant on Stearns Wharf in Santa Barbara. All Porsche owners are invited.

Ventura Vintage Rods is a family-oriented club open to pre-1973 street rods, customs, panels and pick-ups. The club has monthly meetings at different locations and sponsors a variety of outings such as cruises, poker runs, dinners and visits to special places.

The club also plans and organizes the annual Harbor Run car show held each September at the Channel Islands Harbor in support of local charities.

The San Fernando Valley Region of the Chevrolet Club of America meets the first Thursday of each month at the Balboa Recreation Center, Club Room, 17015 Burbank Blvd. in Encino. Members have cars dating to 1916.

Tri-County Airstream Club is open for anyone who owns an Airstream motorhome or trailer. Rallies take place at campsites along the coast throughout the year. Airstreams of all models and vintages are welcomed.

Ventura County Chevys invites those interested in the preservation, restoration and/or modification of 1955 to 1957 Chevrolet automobiles, trucks and other pre-1972 Chevrolet automobiles and hot rods to attend club meetings at the Simi Valley Unified School District Wood Ranch Conference Center. The club meets at 7:30 p.m. the second Friday of each month at the conference center, 222 Country Club Drive in Simi Valley.

The Ventura V-8 Club, an early Ford V-8 Club of America Chapter, meets the third Tuesday of each month at Carrows Restaurant, 301 E. Daily Drive in Camarillo. Dinner is at 6 p.m. followed by a club meeting at 7 p.m. The club invites those interested in 1932 to 1953 Fords to attend.
