Simi Valley will raise funds with May 7 golf tournament
The inaugural Simi Valley High Gridiron Golf Classic on May 7 at Lost Canyons Golf Club will raise funds for a new scoreboard, locker room and weight room equipment for the Pioneers program.
The golf fee is $175 per player or $700 per foursome, which includes a cart, range balls, lunch and buffet dinner. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and a shotgun start at 10 a.m. Dinner and awards will start at 4:30 p.m. Steve Hartman, KCBS Sports Central anchor and host of KLAC's "Loose Cannons," will serve as emcee of the silent auction.

Magazine honors McConica again
Ventura's Jim McConica was honored for the second straight year as one top six men's masters swimmers by Swimming World Magazine in this month's issue. The men and six women range in age from 29 to 91. McConica was also one of the 2005 honorees.
