Morning Report: Rain moistens county

Weather: Rain is falling on the county this morning, adding some much needed moisture to what the National Weather Service has called the driest season on record.

Today's forecast includes a chance of thunderstorms, breezy conditions and high temperatures in the 50s and 60s.

A snow advisory is in place through 9 p.m. tonight for Ventura County mountains, where 4 to 8 inches of snow is expected to accumulate at elevations above 5500 feet.

Traffic: At 6:34 a.m., a traffic collision was reported on Santa Clara Avenue just north of Friedrich Road in Nyeland Acres.

Police and Fire: Thursday night and this morning were quiet and uneventful, law enforcement and fire officials said.
