Encore presentation for 'Vincent'

"Vincent" by Leonard Nimoy is having an encore presentation for one weekend only at the Ojai Art Center Theater, 113 S. Montgomery St., Ojai. This event is a benefit for the community-based Ojai Art Center. Performances for this multimedia play about Vincent Van Gogh are scheduled for 8 p.m. today and Saturday, and 7 p.m. Sunday. Scandinavian Fest returns to CLU

Two full days of festivities are planned Saturday and Sunday on the campus of California Lutheran University when the Scandinavian American Cultural and Historical Foundation presents its Scandinavian Festival, a 30-year tradition on the campus.

From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day, the festival will provide entertainment, food and celebrations.

Admission is $5 for adults, $4 for seniors, $2 for youth and free for children under 12.

Tour features mid-century homes

Post war and modern vintage style homes built from 1945 to 1960 in downtown Ventura, will be on display from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday for the Mid-Century Home Tour, cosponsored by the Midtown Ventura Community Council and the San Buenaventura Conservancy. Six homes are on the tour, one of which will only be open during a reception following the tour from 4 to 6 p.m.

Tickets for the tour are $10 and may be picked up, along with self-guided tour maps, beginning just before 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Sidecar Restaurant, 3029 E. Main St., Ventura.

Peddler's Fair helps Nordhoff musicians

The annual Ojai Peddlers Fair is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Chaparral Auditorium, 414 E. Ojai Ave., Ojai. Parking is free in the adjacent municipal parking lot.

Admission is free. Proceeds will benefit the Nordhoff High School Music Department.

Operetta to benefit Habit for Humanity

"Dueling Divas and a Tenor Tested!," a comedic operetta, will take place at 7 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church, 1338 E. Santa Clara St., Ventura.

Suggested donation is $15 for adults and $10 for students. Net proceeds will benefit Habitat for Humanity of Ventura County. For more information, call 218-2042.

Chumash artifacts on display at Olivas

The docents of the Olivas Adobe are presenting a display of Chumash Native American artifacts in the exhibit hall from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, beginning Saturday through May 6. Olivas Adobe is at Olivas Park Drive in Ventura. For more information, call 672-2329.

The ninth annual Back to the Beach event will take place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Ventura County Fairgrounds, 10 W. Harbor Blvd., Ventura.

CSUCI presents Young Authors Fair

Two local children's book authors will be part of the second annual Children's Reading Celebration & Young Author's Fair hosted by CLU Channel Islands University Library.

Greg Trine, author of the "Melvin Beederman" series, and Lisze Bechtold, author of "Edna's Tale," will speak and autograph copies of their books at the Children's Reading Celebration & Young Author's Fair on Saturday in Malibu Hall 100 and 120 on the campus of CSUCI.

The event will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and is free. Parking is free. Follow signs to the event.

Paradigm Poets offer public poetry reading

In celebration of National Poetry Month, Paradigm Poets will present a public poetry reading, "The Many Shapes of Poetry," at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Simi Valley Library.

The public is invited to come early for refreshments. The library is at 2969 Tapo Canyon Road in Simi Valley.

Student art on exhibit at Young at Art

Young at Art Studios presents students' drawings, paintings and mixed media pieces at the 2007 annual student art shows.

The two show openings will be from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday in Camarillo and May 20 in Moorpark. Each show will be on display for a month following the opening from 3 to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Annual home tour announced

The Santa Clara Valley Hospice/Home Support Group Annual Spring Homes & Art of Santa Paula Tour will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

This year's event will offer the rare opportunity to experience Ventura County's only Italian Trulli-style home.

Tickets will be $20 in advance or $25 at the door. All tour proceeds benefit the array of free services offered by Santa Clara Valley Hospice.

Tickets can be purchased in Santa Paula at the Chamber of Commerce, 200 N. 10th St.; Pamela's, 861 E. Main St.; Santa Paula Times, 944 E. Main St.; and John Nichols Gallery, 916 E. Main St.

In Fillmore, tickets can be purchased at Mirage, at Central Avenue and Santa Clara Street, and Fillmore Flowers, 354 Central Ave.
