College forensics team places third at contest
The forensics team at Moorpark College placed third in a recent national competition.
At the Phi Rho Pi National Tournament, six Moorpark students won gold medals. They are Matthew Strawbridge, Kristen King, Tami Seeger, Eric Evelhoch, Alex Lara-Briseno and Jena Meinecke.
Over the past 35 years, Moorpark College's team has placed in the top three nationwide 28 times. In 2004, the team won the national championship.
Coaches are Jim Wyman, Rolland Petrello and Jill McCall.
This year's competition was April 9-14 in Houston.
Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa placed first, and Southeastern Illinois College took second.
