Conejo Valley Days ready to start
Everything from a 1907 Brush automobile to a 2007 Corvette will be among the 60 or so vehicles on display in a classic car show from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza.
The car show with picnic is the kickoff event for the 2007 Conejo Valley Days.
Conejo Valley Days continues with a chili cookoff on April 29 and a five-day carnival/festival May 2-6, which includes a motocross competition May 3 and a parade down Thousand Oaks Boulevard on May 5.
Attendees may take their own picnic baskets or purchase food from vendors, including the Thousand Oaks Elks barbecue.
During the festivities, the group Aspen will provide a blend of easy listening and country music.
The picnic-car show is sponsored by the Conejo Valley Rotary Club, with proceeds supporting the club's community services. A donation is optional at the car show.
Tickets, at $100 each, will be sold for a drawing to select the winner of a 2007 Lexus IS250. The drawing will benefit the Westminster Free Clinic in Thousand Oaks.
For details about the picnic, car entries and car drawing, call Vern Miller at 492-5779.
The Civic Arts Plaza is at 2100 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd.
