Arraignment set for today in 3 slayings
Man returned to county after fleeing to Mexico
Three years and three days after an Oxnard man and a young couple from Taft were shot execution-style outside Camarillo, the suspect in the killings is scheduled to be arraigned in a Ventura courtroom today.
Rudolfo Negrete was arrested in Mexico in October 2006.
On Wednesday, he was extradited to Ventura County and booked in the county's pretrial detention facility, Sheriff Bob Brooks announced at a news conference Thursday.
At six months, the lag between Negrete's arrest and his extradition to the United States was shorter than normal, said Chief Inspector John Clark of the U.S. Marshals Service.
A Mexican national and a former Oxnard resident, Negrete is facing three counts of murder in the deaths of Daniel Campos, Alex Jordan and Cynthia Jordan on April 17, 2004.
Campos, 21, was found dead on a deserted farm road about three miles east of CSU Channel Islands, south of Camarillo.
The bodies of Alex Jordan, 24, and his wife, Cynthia, 22, were found on another deserted road several miles from where Campos' body was discovered.
Members of the victims' families who were on hand for Thursday's announcement praised the law enforcement officials who worked to arrest and extradite the suspect.
"Thank you so much for bringing justice to our family," Julia Campos, Daniel's mother, said as she fought back tears.
"Let it be known for all those who hide in other countries, you will eventually be captured," added Campos, now a board member of the Ventura County branch of Parents of Murdered Children.
After the midday news conference, Campos embraced Cynthia Schulz, Cynthia Jordan's mother, and they cried as they stood looking at photographs of their dead children.
"It's been a long three years without my kids," Schulz said. Negrete's prosecution in the U.S. is a step toward partial closure for the family, she said.
"I'm just glad to know we have him here."

We need to do what this animal did to these three innocent people. We need to do it execution-style. No if,ands or buts about it. We need to stop these kinds of murders. Not house, feed and give free health insurance to the murderers. execution them!!!!!!!!!!!!

they (left wing whack jobs) say that the death penalty "doesn't work". i say it does. i've never heard of anyone re-offending after they've been executed. every single one of those "people" are on death row for a reason. each of them earned the death penalty. let's carry it out.

I agree with nancy... People who intentionally kill should be automatically sentenced to death

The Problem with the death penalty is that it's not being used. A convicted murderer was once asked, at his sentencing hearing, if he wanted life without parole or the needle. He opted for the death sentence, sayng: "I'll live longer." Today (except in Texas) a death sentence IS life in prison.
If you have a death penalty on the books...use it.
If you don't intend to use it...get rid of it.
California is trying to figure out how to make the death sentence humane. Did the killer think about how humane he was going to be while killing his victims? I doubt it. I think the penalty should fit the crime. Execute the convicted killer in the same fashion he or she killed. If he shot his victim in the head, shoot him in the head. If she burned her husband while he was sleeping, tie her to the bed and torch it. If someone blows up a building, take that person to the next planned building implosion and flip the switch.
If you don't use the penalty, it's not a deterant.
