Triple murder suspect arrives in county from Mexico

Three years and three days after an Oxnard man and a young couple from Taft were shot execution-style outside Camarillo, the suspect in the killings is scheduled to be arraigned in a Ventura courtroom Friday.

Rudolfo Negrete was arrested in Mexico in October 2006.

On Wednesday, he was extradited to Ventura County and booked in the county's pretrial detention facility, Sheriff Bob Brooks announced at a news conference today.

At six months, the lag between Negrete's arrest and his extradition to the United States was shorter than normal, said Chief Inspector John Clark of the U.S. Marshal's Service.

A Mexican national and a former Oxnard resident, Negrete is facing three counts of murder in the deaths of Daniel Campos, Alex Jordan and Cynthia Jordan on April 17, 2004.

Campos, 21, was found dead on a deserted farm road about three miles east of CSU Channel Islands, south of Camarillo.

The bodies of Alex Jordan, 24, and his wife Cynthia, 22, were found on another deserted road several miles from where Campos' body was discovered.

Members of the victims' families who were on hand for today's announcement praised the law enforcement officials who worked to arrest and extradite the suspect.

"Thank you so much for bringing justice to our family," Julia Campos, Daniel's mother, said as she fought back tears.

"Let it be known for all those who hide in other countries, you will eventually be captured," added Campos, now a board member of the Ventura County branch of Parents of Murdered Children.

After the midday news conference, Campos embraced Cynthia Schulz, Cynthia Jordan's mother, and they cried as they stood looking at photographs of their dead children.

"It's been a long three years without my kids," Schulz said. Negrete's prosecution in the U.S. is a step toward partial closure for the family, she said.

"I'm just glad to know we have him here."

Ok, and we shouldn't take back control of our southern border why??? An it makes me so angry that mexico drags its feet on pursuing and extraditing criminals that flee there. I would think they'd be anxious to ship their dregs back here to let our tax payers support in prison.
