Arts advocate to speakat networking conference

Robert Lynch, CEO and president of the national arts advocacy organization Americans for the Arts, will speak at a Friday conference in Ventura.

The annual networking and skill-building conference, titled "Arts Leadership in a Changing Environment: New Skills, New Approaches," will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Ventura City Hall, 501 Poli St.

Following Lynch's morning keynote address, a panel featuring John E. McGuirk of the James Irvine Foundation will discuss the foundation's recently released report, "Critical Issues Facing the Arts in California."

Later sessions will focus on e-marketing to younger audiences, copyright issues for individual artists, countywide arts education planning and individual donor solicitation.
